Focus group feed back

Feedback that was given by other members of the focus group audience consisted of:

Age: All people giving feedback ranged between the ages of 16 - 43 (a mixed range of opions which concludes in having a wider range of knowledge)

Gender: 4 boys and 4 girls gave feedback to make the feedback seem fairer

What type of film do you think this is? All but one said ‘thiller’. The other said ‘Hybrid genre, shocker?’ (which is linked to the thriller genre, but aiming at a more specific group within the thriller genre)

What were the film’s technical/mise-en-scene strenghts?

  • the camera lense type (fish eye shots were a clever use of un-ease)
  • very good bluring techniques used
  • limited vision was well used (kept the audience guessing)
  • sound effects - water dripping gave a creepy atmosphere
  • range of shots
  • the effects on the character that made her look dead

What were the film’s technical/mise-en-scene weaknesses?

  • add credits
  • use of eye/facial features (not clear enough at times)
  • title of the film - how is it relevant to the film?

Did the opening make you want to watch the rest of the film? All feedbackers said yes

Did the film ‘thrill’ you? How?

  • Intreging, want to know more…
  • yes, the use of the blur
  • it was very good, very thrilling
  • the use of the setting was good and added to the thriller atmosphere
  • yes, with its variety, the shots and colouring through editing
  • yes, but the technical aspects might distract

Were the titles successful in introducing the film? All but one said yes, the other said more titles needed to be added as at its current stage it looks to much like a trailer

Do you believe the characters were suitable for this type of film? All said yes

Was the music suitable for the type of film? 6 people said yes. One of the remaining 2 said ‘not sure - reminded me at times of a western theme’, the other said ‘not sure - wasnt much sound effects at times’

What would you do to improve this film? 6 people said it did’nt need improving. One of the remaining 2 said to avoid the reverse zoom whereas the other said to loose the static noise in one of the flashbacks where the main character gets beaten up
